Doctors at alta uro perform a variety of surgeries using the Da Vinci robot.
At the Merian Iselin Clinic, we have the latest generation of the Da Vinci surgical robot at our disposal. The Da Vinci system offers numerous advantages that we do not want to deprive our patients of. These include: smaller incisions and scars, less blood loss, less pain and faster recovery time after surgery.
Our experts on the subject of Da Vinci robots
"This treatment is particularly suitable for patients who have other abnormalities in addition to the pronounced enlargement of the prostate . These can then be treated in the same procedure."
What is the Da Vinci Robot?
The Da Vinci System is a surgical system in which the surgeon can control the camera and surgical instruments via a control unit (console). The camera as well as the instruments are inserted through small skin incisions into the abdominal cavity, which has previously been filled with gas. The camera transmits a three-dimensional image and magnifies the image up to ten times. The Da Vinci System translates the surgeon's hand movements at the console into movements of the instruments. The range of motion of the instruments is far superior to that of the hand. The Da Vinci System is not a robot in the true sense of the word, as the device does not perform any actions independently.
Which procedures are robot-assisted?
The doctors at alta uro perform a wide range of operations with the aid of the surgical robot. At the Merian Iselin Clinic, we have the latest generation Da Vinci surgical robot at our disposal for this purpose. The surgeries performed include:
Removal of the prostateas well as the local lymph nodes in prostate cancer (so-called radical prostatectomy with lymphadenectomy)
Removal of kidney tumors or the entire kidney in cases of kidney cancer (so-called partial kidney resection or nephrectomy)
Removal of kidney and ureter in case of renal pelvis cancer or ureteral cancer (so-called nephroureterectomy)
Removal of benign glandular tissue of the prostate in cases of very pronounced prostate enlargement (so-called adenoma enucleation)
Reimplantation of the ureter into the urinary bladder in case of narrowing of the ureter
What are the advantages of robot-assisted surgery?
The Da Vinci System offers numerous advantages. These include smaller incisions and scars, less blood loss, less pain and rapid recovery after surgery, and a shorter hospital stay.
